What is BHOLD?
BHOLD is a community-based action program that works within Brooks County residents to support resilience, mental health and well-being. Our vision is to enhance education, increase prosperity, and promote a strong, drug-free, and healthy community.
We advocate and guide residents of our communities, provide services, and collaborate with Brooks County agencies to ensure that needs within the community are met. BHOLD is a program initiated through the Community Action Corporation of South Texas (CACOST) to support citizen-driven strategies for enhanced quality of life in Brooks County.
The Behavioral Health Outreach and Leadership Development Project (BHOLD) is a three-year project funded by the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health’s Collaborative Approaches to Well-Being in Rural Communities project.
Our goal for the BHOLD Project is:
- Develop and establish a BHOLD coalition
- Complete a Community Needs Assessment (CNA)
- Established strategic plan based on results of CNA
- Implement outlined goals of the strategic plan into the community
Serving communities throughout Brooks County will strengthen South Texas by providing members with the tools needed to improve quality of life.
